Training

Thunderbirds Netball Club is fortunate to have established excellent links with:

  • Stratford Girls Grammar School (SGGS)
  • The Croft Preparatory School

This enables us to train in fantastic new Sports Halls in the winter months and outdoor courts during the summer.

Girls are allocated to specific training sessions according to age and ability. This enables teams to bond, develop and improve together. Very special consideration is given to this by our coaches and on occasion it may be in a player’s best interest to change sessions. Should this ever pose a problem, do not hesitate to contact our Head Coach or Club Manager.

Please keep in mind that regular attendance at training is vital for match selection

Our Trainers

Led by our Level 2 Head Coach, Kelly McCormack (right) and Level 2 coach Molly Salmons, these sessions are aimed at girls who want to play competitively, focusing on skills, tactics and match play.

Girls are carefully assessed and placed in groups best suited to their age, ability and level of confidence.

Great thought also goes into building and developing teams.

Our Award Winning Coach

Thunderbirds’ Head Coach, Kelly McCormack, received the award for Coach/ PE Teacher at the Stratford District Sports Award 2019.

She was recognised for her determination to get girls playing competitive netball. As well as being a driving force behind the club’s extraordinary expansion, Thunderbirds actively engages all ages and abilities in matches and tournaments.

Kelly was also credited for the support she gives girls on the England Netball Pathway.

Netball Franchise Experience

Molly Salmons, Head Coach of the Thunderbirds U14 and U16 teams is also a Head Coach for the Loughborough Lightning U15 and U17 Academy Pathway.

This link offers our club members an extremely valuable insight into Netball Pathway selection and expectations.
