About Stratford Thunderbirds

Founded in 2015, we are a netball club for both juniors and seniors based in Stratford Upon Avon, Warwickshire.

Run by parent volunteers, we aim to develop girls’ netball skills. Our junior teams (from U10 to U16), play competitively in the  Worcestershire, West Midlands Developmental and Central Intermediate Leagues.

Our seniors (including adults, U14, U15 & U16s) compete in the Redditch, Walsall and Stratford Senior leagues.

We also have plenty of girls who just want to play for fun!

New Sponsor - Prime Studios

We are pleased to announce that Prime Studios are supporting our club by becoming “Friends of Thunderbirds”.

Prime Studios are a bespoke private gym a short distance from Stratford in a lovely rural location. In addition to bespoke personal training, they offer sports therapy, pilates, yoga, and nutrition advice.

Owner and director Chris Tipping explained why they wanted to get involved with Thunderbirds.

We are eager to support the local community, in particular local youth teams. With child obesity being so prevalent, as well mental health issues, we feel it is paramount to promote exercise and educate on health and wellbeing at a young age. Activities which become habitual lead to long term behavioural changes and this needs to be encouraged. Thunderbirds are a fantastic institution for young girls to instil these ideals, and Prime studio looks forward to our collaborative relationship in 2020.

Government guidelines place strict rules about sharing equipment, so Prime Studio’s generous support will help us purchase additional training kit to support the new socially distant training regime.

New Sponsor - Apteco

Warwick-based technology company Apteco have kindly become a “Friend of Thunderbirds”. Club Sponsorship Manager Martin Phillis remarked “It is wonderful to have the backing of another great local business. We really appreciate their support, which will help towards the costs of additional training kit needed due to the Government’s rules about sharing equipment.”

Apteco’s Sarah Liu stated that “Apteco is always happy to support the sports clubs that our employees and their families are involved with. When training resumes, following the COVID-19 lockdown, we appreciate that costs will rise to ensure the girls are in a safe environment and following the social distancing guidelines. I’m pleased to nominate Thunderbirds in my employer’s sponsorship list at this difficult time. Many of my colleagues have young children and, I believe, the existence of a club like Thunderbirds is very important as an inspiration for the younger generation.”

Sponsorship Opportunities

Would your business be interested in supporting the club in return for some great publicity? Perhaps you’d just like to help us to promote sport, the benefits of a healthy lifestyle and being part of a team.  Stratford Thunderbirds teams attend tournaments and league matches all over the country. We’ve got a great record of winning competitions and getting good coverage in the media and online. We’d love you to be part of that.

We currently have various Sponsorship packages available including purchase of Gazebos to protect the teams from inclement weather (and lets face it we see a lot of that in this country!) Team Managers Kit, Awards packages and more.

New Ways to Support Our Club

All the Team Managers and the Committee at Stratford Thunderbirds are Volunteers who give up their own time to ensure the club runs smoothly and continues to grow. Training fees help cover the cost of the coaches and the hire of training facilities, however there are many other costs, including equipment, league and tournament fees, insurance, safeguarding and admin costs to be met.

For this reason we have introduced some new ways in which you can support the club financially, often at no cost to you. Check out the Easy Fundraising link to see how you can donate simply by shopping online – and we all love doing that!

New Sponsor - Crazy Catch!

You will be familiar with the latest “Friends of Thunderbirds”- Crazy Catch!

Kate Costin, Marketing Manager of their UK distributor, Flicx UK, stated:

“We are delighted to be teaming up with Stratford Thunderbirds. It is clear to see they are a club on the rise, and despite them being a new club they are already one of the largest in the West Midlands. The club invested in a number of Crazy Catch rebound nets, and it’s great that so many players have bought their own to practice their netball at home. So, it makes perfect sense to team up with Thunderbirds!”

Our Head Coach Kelly McCormack explained:

“Crazy Catch rebound nets are an integral part of club training sessions as they offer players fun and challenging opportunities to develop their skills. They have also allowed our players to continue training at home, which has been a huge benefit particularly during lockdown. It is fantastic to have Crazy Catch as one of our sponsors.”
